Tether reported on 3 August 2026 that XAU₮ holdings increased 9.5% in Q2, with 53,225.020000 additional tokens sold, even as gold fell 14.1% during the quarter. Yet XAUT is now around $4,340.90, below the September 3 high of $4,504.50 — while physical reserves remained unchanged at 707,747.139 fine troy ounces, complicating the simple demand-growth narrative.

That divergence — stronger token-holder demand against weaker recent price structure — is a watch, not a confident long/short. The macro backdrop also remains unsettled: spot gold was around $4,339.46 on September 11 and remained down nearly 3% for the week, with rate-hike expectations pressuring non-yielding assets.

For XAUT/USDT, $4,430.50 is the confirmation line — a close above that September 10 high would show demand reclaiming the recent breakdown area. $4,320 is the immediate support, matching September 10–11 lows; below it, $4,291.40 from September 2 becomes the next line to watch.

Next 1–2 weeks — the read depends heavily on gold’s reaction to September macro data and rate expectations.

A confirmed close below $4,291.40 invalidates the constructive divergence thesis; a broad gold rebound could lift XAUT without any new token-specific demand.
