Gate Top 4 Mainstream CEX: The Bigger Story Behind Gate’s Expansion

Gate is entering a different stage of its evolution.

It is no longer accurate, in my view, to look at Gate as simply another cryptocurrency exchange competing for trading volume. Its growing user base, reported reserves, expanding asset universe, derivatives activity, GT ecosystem, Web3 products and creator community together tell a much bigger story.

The interesting part is not one headline number.

It is how all of these pieces fit together.

Gate has now crossed 60 million registered users. That milestone represents more than just a large customer count. At this scale, Gate is operating as a global digital-asset ecosystem connecting millions of users with spot trading, futures, Web3, earning products, asset discovery, community activity and new financial opportunities.

Scale matters in crypto because a larger user base can support deeper liquidity, stronger market participation and a broader ecosystem of products.

But users also need confidence in how an exchange manages assets.

That is where Gate's reported Proof of Reserves becomes an important part of the story.

Gate's latest reported reserves stand at approximately $8.215 billion, with overall reserve coverage of 127%. In simple terms, the reported reserves represent coverage 27 percentage points above the 100% benchmark.

More importantly, the reported coverage extends across several major asset categories.

BTC reserve coverage is approximately 122.79%, while ETH coverage is around 122.05%. Stablecoin reserves are reported at approximately $1.761 billion against around $1.578 billion in user holdings, producing coverage of about 111.63%.

Gate's native GT token shows even higher reported coverage at approximately 131.15%.

I don't think these figures should be viewed in isolation. Together, they provide a broader picture of reported reserve coverage across major parts of the ecosystem.

Gate also uses Merkle Tree and zk-SNARK technology in its Proof of Reserves approach, combining reserve verification with privacy considerations. In an industry where trust has to be continuously earned, transparency is not simply a marketing feature. It is part of the infrastructure users expect from a major centralized exchange.

Then there is GT.

Gate's native token has become another important part of the platform's long-term structure. Cumulative GT burns have reached approximately 189.95 million GT, representing around 63.32% of the original 300 million GT supply.

The Q2 2026 burn alone removed approximately 2.57 million GT from circulation, with a reported value above $17.75 million based on the stated calculation.

More than 63% of the original supply being permanently removed is a substantial change to the token's supply structure. It also shows that GT is being developed as more than simply an exchange token.

The next major advantage is market variety.

Gate now offers more than 5,000 listed assets, creating a very broad marketplace for users. Crypto narratives constantly rotate. One period may be dominated by Bitcoin and Ethereum, while another focuses on AI, DeFi, memecoins, Layer-1 projects or completely new emerging sectors.

Having thousands of assets available through one ecosystem gives users more opportunities to discover these market movements.

But asset count alone does not make an exchange strong.

Liquidity matters.

A platform can list thousands of tokens, but traders still need active markets, competitive spreads, efficient execution and sufficient depth when entering or exiting positions.

This is where Gate's derivatives expansion becomes particularly important.

Recent reported market data puts Gate's July futures volume at approximately $276 billion, representing around 9.08% reported market share.

That is a serious level of derivatives activity.

Futures markets require much more than simply listing contracts. They require infrastructure, liquidity, execution, risk management and an ecosystem capable of handling substantial trading activity.

Gate's reported 24-hour open interest of approximately $12.17 billion further demonstrates the scale of participation across its derivatives markets.

For me, these numbers are important because they challenge the idea that Gate is only a niche exchange for smaller crypto assets.

The broader picture suggests something different.

Gate is building a platform capable of serving multiple categories of users at the same time.

A long-term investor can access established assets.

An active trader can explore spot markets.

A futures trader can participate in derivatives.

A user interested in earning products has additional opportunities.

A Web3 user can explore decentralized applications and emerging ecosystems.

And creators and community members can participate through Gate's social and content ecosystem.

That last part is increasingly important.

Crypto is not powered by capital alone.

It is also powered by information.

Every day, users discuss charts, market movements, new listings, narratives, trading ideas and emerging opportunities. A strong creator ecosystem gives users a way to participate beyond simply opening a trade.

This creates another layer of engagement.

Instead of functioning only as a trading terminal, Gate is developing into a broader environment where trading, information, community and Web3 activity can exist together.

That matters because the centralized exchange industry is extremely competitive.

Users have many choices, and exchanges have to compete across security, liquidity, fees, products, asset selection, infrastructure and user experience.

Past success is not enough.

An exchange has to continue building.

It has to continue adapting.

And most importantly, it has to continue earning user confidence.

This is why I think Gate's current position deserves attention.

The strongest argument is not any single statistic.

It is the combination.

60M+ users demonstrate scale.

$8.215B in reported reserves provides a measurable transparency story.

127% overall reported reserve coverage adds another confidence signal.

BTC coverage of 122.79% and ETH coverage of 122.05% show strong reported coverage for two of the industry's largest assets.

Stablecoin coverage of 111.63% adds another important layer to the reserve picture.

GT coverage of 131.15% strengthens the native-token ecosystem.

189.95M GT burned represents a major reduction from the original supply.

5,000+ assets create enormous market diversity.

$276B in reported July futures volume demonstrates significant derivatives activity.

And $12.17B in reported open interest shows substantial market participation.

When these numbers are viewed together, the story becomes much clearer.

Gate is not simply expanding horizontally by adding more products.

It is building depth across multiple areas of the crypto economy.

The bigger question now is what comes next.

If Gate continues increasing its user base, improving liquidity, strengthening security infrastructure, expanding GT utility, developing new financial products and growing its Web3 ecosystem, its position among mainstream centralized exchanges could become even more significant.

Crypto itself will continue to change.

New assets will emerge.

New narratives will take over.

Trading strategies will evolve.

User expectations will become higher.

The exchanges that remain relevant will be those capable of adapting faster than the market changes.

That is the part of Gate's story I find most interesting.

Gate has scale.

Gate has reported reserve coverage.

Gate has liquidity and derivatives activity.

Gate has thousands of assets.

Gate has GT and an aggressive long-term burn structure.

Gate has Web3.

Gate has earning products.

Gate has creators and community.

And most importantly, Gate continues to build.

For me, that is the real reason Gate deserves attention.

It is not simply trying to compete for today's crypto users.

It is building an ecosystem designed to participate in the next chapter of the digital-asset industry.
