Apple’s September 9, 2026 event, branded “Surprise and Shine,” delivered one of the company’s most significant product refreshes in years. The biggest announcement was the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone. It opens into a 7.6-inch inner display and has a 5.4-inch outer screen, creating a larger workspace for multitasking while maintaining a pocketable design.
Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, powered by the new A20 Pro chip. The Pro models feature a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, improved battery performance, a smaller Dynamic Island and next-generation vapor-chamber cooling. They also integrate iOS 27 and the new Siri AI, which Apple says can use personal context and onscreen awareness while emphasizing privacy.
The event expanded Apple’s wearable lineup with the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. New health capabilities include an upgraded Health Sensing System, higher-frequency heart-rate variability measurements and a readiness experience powered partly by Apple Intelligence.
Apple also unveiled AirPods 5, bringing active noise cancellation to the entry-level AirPods line.
Overall, the event highlighted Apple’s strategy of combining foldable hardware, advanced silicon, AI-powered software and health technology, positioning its ecosystem for the next stage of growth.
