LAPTOP completed a textbook cycle in just one morning: surge → FOMO → late buyers piling in → plunge.
01 The Craziest Part: How Did It Rise from $0.05 to $190?
When many people see this price, their first reaction is: “With so many people buying, there must have been tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars flowing in.”
Actually, that is not the case. The real answer is: liquidity was extremely thin. LAPTOP was deployed on Base and traded through decentralized liquidity pools. In the early stages after launch, the pools’ actual liquidity was only several million dollars, and at the most frenzied stage, some pools had only hundreds of thousands of dollars in liquidity. Under these conditions, a relatively limited amount of money buying continuously can push the price displayed by the AMM extremely high.
According to analysis, LAPTOP surged to around $190 about two minutes after opening; at one point, its “fully diluted valuation” exceeded $100 billion, but its actual liquidity was nowhere near that level. This is the most dangerous illusion of Meme coins: a high price does not mean there is actually that much money in the market. If 1 million coins are each displayed at $100, it appears to be worth $100 million. But if the funds actually willing to buy them total only $1 million, you cannot sell $100 million worth.
02 Then, the Sniping Bots Entered
The most dangerous few minutes after a Meme coin launches are often not a battlefield for ordinary retail investors. They are a battlefield for bots, snipers, market makers, and professional on-chain traders.
Who knows the contract address first? Who can discover the liquidity pool fastest? Whose transaction latency is lowest? Who can complete a purchase before everyone else has even reacted? These players profit from information and speed gaps that ordinary retail investors simply cannot understand. By the time social media began spreading the message wildly—“Hunter Biden launched a coin!”—ordinary investors finally rushed in. But by then, the early holders had already undergone a massive price revaluation.
So what you see is: early capital buys at $0.05 → market sentiment pushes the price above $100 → retail investors see the news and rush in. At this point, who provides the liquidity? Whoever catches the final baton becomes the liquidity.
03 The Most Painful Data Is Here: 80% of Traders Lost Money
After analyzing LAPTOP transactions, on-chain analytics firm Bubblemaps said that approximately 80% of traders ultimately lost money.
Among them: at least 2 traders lost between $100,000 and $1 million; approximately 100 traders lost more than $10,000; approximately 700 traders lost more than $1,000; and approximately 11,000 traders suffered smaller-scale losses.
Bubblemaps directly described the trading frenzy as a “bloodbath.”
This is the data about LAPTOP that deserves the most attention. Because it tells us that a Meme coin’s rise does not mean most people make money. Quite the opposite. A massive price surge can absolutely consist of: a small number of early participants making millions of dollars + a large number of later traders absorbing the losses.
04 Hunter Biden: I Didn’t Make a Single Dollar
In response to outside accusations of “running away” and a “Rug Pull,” Hunter Biden’s side denied that the team sold during the crash, attributing it to insufficient initial liquidity, excessive demand, technical issues, and sniping-bot trading.
From a project-design perspective, LAPTOP has a total supply of 1 billion tokens, with the founding team allocated 30%, as well as lockups and subsequent unlocks; the project also has airdrops, liquidity, charity, and a token-burning mechanism tied to real-world events. Official disclosures also clearly position LAPTOP as an entertainment- and community-participation-oriented Meme coin, rather than an equity or profit-sharing right.
So, was it a “Rug Pull”? At present, this conclusion cannot be drawn based solely on the crash itself. But that does not mean it is an asset worth investing in. Because a simpler question faces everyone: How much should a political Meme coin with no cash flow, no equity, and no claim to product earnings actually be worth? The answer is actually very harsh: It is mainly worth the attention it commands at that moment.
05 What LAPTOP Is Really Worth Remembering in Crypto Is Not Biden, but “Liquidity”
Many people treat this as a political joke: the Trump family launched a coin and it crashed. Now the Biden family has launched a coin too. Then both were brutally educated by the market. But from a trading perspective, what really matters is this: do not treat “market cap” as “the amount of capital.” Especially with new coins. You must look at: How much actual liquidity is there? Who holds the concentrated supply? What percentage is held by the top 100 addresses? When will the team’s tokens unlock? How much did the market makers receive? Is the pool deep enough? Who was buying in the first few minutes? If you have not figured these things out, and rush in simply because “a celebrity launched a coin,” “it will surge immediately,” or “it will be listed on exchanges immediately,” what you are buying is very likely not an opportunity. It is the exit liquidity someone else is looking for.
LAPTOP fell from nearly $200 to less than $1 in an extremely short time. It once again proved the most brutal rule of the Meme market: a surge itself is not a money-making opportunity. >What really matters is whether you entered before or after price discovery. And for the vast majority of retail investors, when you see “up 99%” on social media, it is often no longer the beginning, but the moment when the story is at its most exciting.
This time, Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP did not change this rule. Instead, it demonstrated it with extraordinary thoroughness. From $0.05 to $190, and then to near zero. This is not just one coin’s day. It is a microcosm of the entire Meme coin market.$LAPTOP
