#IntelSurgesOver9%
$INTC Intel Is Back in the Spotlight — Can $105 Be the Start of the Next Big Move?
Intel has suddenly become one of the most interesting turnaround stories in the semiconductor market. After surging more than 9% on September 8 to close at $104. Intel continued higher and is now trading around $105. The move is especially notable because the broader market has remained under pressure from rising oil prices, geopolitical tensions and higher Treasury yields. On September 9, Intel still gained about 1.7% to close near $106. while the major indexes moved lower.
So what is driving this renewed momentum?
The first catalyst is analyst confidence. Northland Securities upgraded Intel to Outperform and placed a $120 price target on the stock, highlighting progress in the turnaround, tight server CPU supply and the potential scale of the Terafab opportunity. That upgrade helped reinforce the idea that Intel's fundamental story may be changing.
The second catalyst is pricing power.
Reports indicate Intel could raise PC CPU prices by around 10% in October. This would not be an isolated move. Intel has already increased prices several times as memory, components and supply-chain costs have risen. More importantly, strong demand for server CPUs is giving Intel greater flexibility to raise prices, particularly as AI data-center demand continues to increase.
For a company that spent years fighting market-share pressure, the return of pricing power is a major development.
Then there is the bigger story: Intel Foundry.
The Terafab opportunity has become one of the most important pieces of the long-term Intel narrative. The potential involvement of Tesla, SpaceX and xAI could create a massive demand opportunity for Intel's advanced manufacturing business. If Intel can turn these potential relationships into sustained high-volume production, the foundry business could finally gain the external scale investors have been waiting for.
Intel's manufacturing progress also deserves attention. The company's High-NA EUV development is another signal that it is investing heavily in next-generation semiconductor manufacturing. The question is no longer simply whether Intel can build advanced technology — it is whether Intel can execute commercially and attract enough customers to make the foundry profitable.
The numbers explain why investors remain both excited and cautious.
Intel closed September 8 at $104. after gaining about 9.05%, and recent market data showed the stock around $106. on September 9.
At approximately $105, Intel has already moved dramatically from the beginning of 2026. The stock has experienced an extraordinary rally, but volatility remains extremely high. After reaching the $140+ area earlier in the year, Intel later dropped toward the high-$80s before recovering sharply.
That history tells us one important thing: $INTC is not a low-volatility stock.
Technically, the $105 area is now an important psychological zone. If buyers can maintain strength above $105 and eventually reclaim the $107–112 resistance region, the next major target could be $120. A sustained move above $120 would bring the previous $140–142 area back into focus.
On the downside, $100–101 becomes an important near-term area to watch. Below that, the $95–97 zone could become a potential support region, while $90 and approximately $87–88 remain much more important structural levels.
My scenario framework looks like this:
Bull case: $130–200
This would require successful Terafab execution, stronger external foundry demand, continued pricing power, improving AI-related server demand and meaningful progress toward reducing foundry losses.
Base case: $105–125
This scenario assumes Intel continues executing gradually, price increases hold, foundry losses narrow and investors continue rewarding the turnaround story. The $112–120 area would be the key test.
Bear case: $77–95
A major failure in foundry execution, continued cash losses, weaker semiconductor demand, higher interest rates or a broader market correction could pressure the stock back toward the lower support zones.
There is also a macro risk that cannot be ignored. Oil has moved above $100 as Middle East tensions intensify, while Treasury yields have risen sharply. Markets are also watching upcoming inflation data and the Federal Reserve's next policy decision. These factors can create significant volatility across high-beta technology and semiconductor stocks.
For traders, the biggest lesson is simple: don't automatically chase a stock after a 9% breakout.
A stronger approach is to watch how price behaves after the initial excitement. If $105 holds and buyers push through $107–112 with strong momentum, the market could be confirming another leg higher. If price pulls back toward $100 or $95–97 and successfully finds support, that could provide a cleaner risk-defined setup than buying directly into a large green candle.
For long-term investors, Intel's story is becoming increasingly interesting, but the turnaround still needs execution. The foundry business remains the biggest question, valuation is no longer cheap, and expectations are rising rapidly.
My view: Intel is no longer simply a recovery trade. It is becoming a major bet on the future of U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, AI infrastructure and advanced foundry technology.
At around $105, the stock is entering a critical decision zone.
The next chapter will be determined not by one strong trading session, but by whether Intel can convert this momentum into sustainable earnings, stronger foundry economics and real long-term customer demand.
