RWA + perpetual contracts—the combination is starting to get a little “addictive”!

The crypto market has never lacked hot topics, but sectors that can truly sustain development usually need to meet two conditions: a story and capital.
RWA has the story, while perpetual contracts provide the trading scenario.
Gate’s RWA perpetual contract open interest has now ranked first globally. This combination is worth watching because it means RWA is gradually moving from a simple asset-tokenization concept into a more mature stage of market trading.
Put simply, people used to discuss “how to bring real-world assets on-chain”; now they are starting to discuss “how to trade them once they are on-chain.”
For traders, perpetual contracts can provide opportunities on both the long and short sides, while also allowing the market to continuously generate liquidity across different cycles.
But the risks must be put first here.
The leverage mechanism of perpetual contracts amplifies volatility, while high open interest also means capital competition is becoming more concentrated. Once extreme market conditions emerge, liquidations and cascading liquidations could further amplify price volatility.
Therefore, I would not simply interpret being first in open interest as meaning that prices are “about to rise,” but rather view it as a signal of increased market attention and trading activity.
What is truly worth looking forward to is whether RWA can continue expanding its asset coverage and establish stable, sustained on-chain liquidity.
If traditional financial assets continue moving on-chain while the crypto market provides 24/7 trading, RWA could genuinely become an important bridge connecting traditional finance and the crypto market.
