$TSLA Watch Tesla tonight

If you hold Tesla (TSLA), please note that the Cybercab launch event will take place tonight.
Here are the key factors in determining whether this event will turn into a sell-the-news event or trigger a rebound.
Historically, if this is merely a concept or vision presentation, the stock price usually falls in a sell-off the next day.
Here are some typical recent examples:
“We, Robot” event (October 10, 2024): Cybercab’s debut. The stock price plunged 8.8% the next day, wiping out approximately $68 billion in market value. Barclays noted at the time that the event lacked near-term commercial opportunities and relied too heavily on Musk’s long-term vision of fully autonomous driving. Over the following five trading days, the stock price fell approximately 10% cumulatively.
Battery Day (September 22, 2020): The stock price plunged approximately 7% in early trading the next day. Morningstar believed that after the sharp run-up beforehand, it would be difficult for the event to meet overly high expectations; Wedbush analyst Dan Ives pointed out that the previously highly anticipated “million-mile battery” had not arrived as expected.
Cybertruck launch event (November 21, 2019): The stock price fell more than 6% the next day because no specific mass-production or delivery date was provided.
Autopilot launch (October 2015): After the market realized how far Tesla still was from truly autonomous driving, the stock price fell 3.1% the following week and declined 4.4% cumulatively over the following month.
By contrast, if the event showcases products or services that can genuinely be delivered, the stock price often rises and rebounds.
For example: Austin Robotaxi pilot launch (June 22, 2025): This was the event most similar in nature to tonight’s. The stock price surged approximately 8% the next day, closing at $348.68, its largest single-day gain in nearly two months.
Although it was an extremely limited pilot at the time—with only 10–20 Model Y vehicles and safety monitors in the passenger seats—it represented a real service on real roads.
Autonomous driving test update (December 2025): After Musk confirmed that fully autonomous tests with no one inside the vehicle were underway, the stock price rose 3.6%.
Earlier physical product launches: Model X in 2012, Powerwall in 2015, and Model 3 in 2016 all posted gains the following week after being accompanied by the announcement of specific physical products and delivery schedules.$TSLA
