#Gate用户突破6000万

From a “crypto newbie” to a “seasoned investor”—My one-in-60-million story with Gate

When I saw the news that Gate’s global user base had officially surpassed 60 million, I suddenly realized that I was actually one of those 60 million. The platform also launched a celebration featuring 6,000 USDT contract trial vouchers, merchandise mystery boxes, and more—but honestly, even without those perks, I still wanted to talk about this experience.

I entered the crypto world in 2021, when the market was scorching hot and my friends were talking every day about which coin had doubled again. Looking back, I still feel embarrassed about my first trade after registering with Gate—I followed the recommendation of a “teacher” in a group and blindly put 1,000 U into some altcoin. It fell right after I bought it. I held on for three days, then finally couldn’t take it anymore and cut my losses. The next day, it rose 40%. It felt like getting off a train just as it pulled away, then watching it honk at you twice.

But what really made me remember Gate was something else.

At the end of 2021, I happened to come across a post in which someone shared that they had bought Dogecoin on Gate in 2018 at ¥0.05, then panic-sold when it fell to ¥0.02, taking a 60% loss. Then, in 2021, Doge rose to nearly ¥5—if they hadn’t sold, ¥1,000 would have become approximately ¥95,000. The post ended with one sentence: “I mistook panic for discipline.”

Those words felt like a bucket of cold water poured over my head. I thought back to that 1,000 U trade of mine—wasn’t it exactly the same? I did no research before buying, panic-sold after it fell, and then watched helplessly as it rose back up. From then on, I started seriously learning how to read candlestick charts and manage positions, and stopped blindly following “teachers.”

Later, I had several successful trades on Gate, and I also suffered losses a few times. The most memorable was in 2023, when I used grid trading to slowly build up some profits in a range-bound market—not much, but it was the first time I felt I had made money “not through luck.”

Eight years have passed, and Gate has grown from a small exchange into a multi-asset platform covering over 4,900 digital assets and 12,800 stocks and ETFs. I, too, have gone from a hot-headed beginner to a “seasoned investor” who can read candlestick charts and calculate position sizes. Everyone among those 60 million users has their own story—some made satisfying profits, some suffered painful losses, and some were left laughing and crying at the same time. My biggest takeaway is probably that, in front of the market, I must first control my own impulses before talking about making money.

Wishing Gate continued success, and wishing all of us who are one in 60 million the chance to grow slowly at our own pace.
