Gate has officially launched US stock options, and this time, I think the significance is more than just “adding another trading product.”
On September 2, Gate launched US stock options, initially covering nine popular stocks: Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Meta, AMD, Micron, Amazon, Alphabet, and Broadcom, with USDT cash settlement.
For crypto users, the biggest attraction of this setup is familiarity.
Previously, trading US stock options often required a traditional brokerage account, funding system, and a separate trading process. Now Gate has integrated them into its existing ecosystem, allowing users to access crypto, US stocks, and US stock options on the same platform.
More interestingly, Gate uses cash settlement. After exercising, users do not directly receive 100 shares of stock; instead, profits and losses are settled in USDT according to the settlement rules.
This actually fits the habits of crypto traders very well: unified accounts, unified settlement, and more direct asset switching.
Of course, options are not an “upgraded version of spot,” let alone a low-risk instrument. Direction, volatility, expiration time, and strike price all affect the outcome, and buyers may even face a total loss of the premium.
So what Gate has truly added this time is an expanded “strategy toolbox” for investors.
