SpaceX just unlocked $116B in shares. Most traders are watching the price. The smart money is watching the calendar.

Everyone saw SPCX spike past $225 after its historic IPO. Almost nobody noticed less than 5% of shares were actually tradable. We were all trading a paper-thin float.

Then August 6 hit. 911.5 million shares, roughly $116 billion worth, became eligible for sale. Did SPCX crash? No. It rose 6.1% that day.

Here's what Gate traders need to lock in. Gate confirmed it will support the next SPCX unlock on August 26, 2026, 12:00 UTC, releasing 20% of eligible holdings. If you're holding SPCX via Gate's Pre-IPOs zone (SPCX/USDT pair), that date is your checkpoint. Not the headline. The actual unlock clock.

This isn't a one-time cliff drop. SpaceX structured this as a ladder. After the August wave, five more 7% tranches land on fixed days post-IPO (June 12 listing): day 70, 90, 105, 120, 135. That lands roughly on August 21, September 10, September 25, October 10, and October 25. Each one is a fresh supply test.

The number that should worry latecomers: if all eligible shares hit the float, SPCX's tradable portion roughly doubles from ~4.8% to ~11.8% of total shares inside a few months. A price-based bonus unlock (30%+ above IPO price into earnings) was also on the table, but SPCX went into its August earnings near all-time lows, so those bonus shares stay locked until December 8.

Retail read the August unlock as "supply flood, sell it." Price said otherwise. That's the flip: an unlock isn't automatically bearish. It's a liquidity event, and liquidity cuts both ways depending on who's actually selling.

Bull case: metered, staggered releases (not a single dump) mean SpaceX engineered this to avoid shock. August proved demand can absorb it.

Bear case: five more tranches into a stock already at ~90x sales, still below its $135 IPO price, is a lot of rope if sentiment turns.

What to actually do on Gate: don't trade the headline. Trade the calendar. Mark August 21 and August 26. Watch how SPCX/USDT behaves through both. If it holds like the first wave did, the market's telling you it can digest the supply. If it cracks, that's your signal too.

Anti-FOMO note: the real supply event isn't this month. Musk's ~6.4B-share block plus the extended investor group, over 60% of pre-IPO shares, doesn't unlock until June 2027. Everything happening now is the small wave.

The float didn't shrink because shares disappeared. It shrank because almost none of them were allowed to trade yet. On Gate, you can watch that clock tick in real time via the SPCX/USDT pair.

Doubling 11.8% of the circulating supply sounds scary, but what if buying demand keeps up?

Don’t just calculate the supply side; you also need to look at the buying support for SPCX/USDT on Gate.

The price-based unlock condition was not triggered, so the batch scheduled for December 8 is temporarily safe.

The unlock calendar is more important than the candlestick chart—I’ve learned my lesson from this move.
