As soon as tensions in Iran escalate, BTC immediately “plays timid”: turns out the crypto world fears geopolitics too
BTC has recently encountered an opponent that does not care much for technical analysis—
geopolitics.
The US military recently struck targets in Iran again, triggering a new round of US-Iran military tensions. Oil prices rose, global risk appetite took a hit, and BTC retreated accordingly.
At times like this, many people’s first reaction is:
“Isn’t BTC digital gold?”
Sorry, but the market may not have fully recognized that identity in the short term.
In reality, when risk-asset sentiment is strong, BTC is still affected by capital flight alongside stocks and tech assets.
So when war news breaks, traders often do not first study BTC’s “long-term value.” Instead, they first ask:
“Will it keep falling tonight?”
That is the cruelty of the short-term market.
But I actually think this pullback is not necessarily a bad thing.
Because after prices rise, the most dangerous situation is when everyone is fully invested and everyone believes prices can only rise, never fall.
Now that geopolitical risks have suddenly cooled market sentiment, they may instead give an overheated market a chance to find support again.
More importantly, in the latest round of conflict, although BTC came under pressure, it still fluctuated around $78k and did not experience an extreme, uncontrolled plunge.
What does this show?
At the very least, it shows that the market has begun to develop some degree of adaptability to “conflict news.”
So I will not shout “the bear market is here” every time I see a war-related news report, nor will I shout “the bull market is taking off again” every time BTC rebounds.#美军袭击伊朗BTC下挫
