🏦 ECB Official Calls for Central Bank Money to Go On-Chain

ECB board member Isabel Schnabel says central banks should consider issuing natively tokenized reserves on DLT platforms, signaling growing institutional interest in blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Her message is also clear: stablecoins may play an important role, but they should not replace central bank money. If central banks move further on-chain, tokenized reserves could become a major part of the next generation of digital finance.

The key is who controls the private keys in the end; if it is technically on-chain but essentially centralized, then there is no point.

Which DLT platform should be chosen? This allocation of interests is enough to keep the EU arguing for three years.
