Axis launches institutional liquidity service Axis Prime

Mars Finance reports that Axis has announced the launch of Axis Prime, expanding the fragmented market execution infrastructure it previously built to run market-neutral strategies for institutional allocators into institutional liquidity and execution services for neobanks, brokerages, remittance businesses, and digital asset platforms. Prime handles trade pricing, liquidity sourcing, execution and settlement management, as well as inventory and counterparty risk management, through a single institutional relationship. The service supports more than 15 currencies, stablecoins, and settlement channels, evaluates more than 25 million cross-asset pricing paths, and offers selected channels with average quoted spreads of less than 10 basis points. Axis said Prime has completed its first OTC order with a large centralized crypto exchange. Capital flowing into Axis supports its balance sheet and trading infrastructure, while Prime uses that infrastructure to quote and execute external institutional flows, creating a dual-use model combining capital formation with liquidity provision.

Evaluating 25 million paths—the routing algorithm is pretty fierce. The execution of the first OTC order shows this isn’t just a PPT product.

Axis Prime’s move has democratized institutional-grade infrastructure. New banks and brokerages finally no longer need to build the entire system themselves, and spreads under 10 bps are genuinely competitive.

15 currency corridors, settled in stablecoins—this setup is clearly designed for cross-border payments, lowering the entry barrier for institutions by another notch.

From proprietary strategies to offering liquidity services externally, Axis’s transformation is quite typical—monetizing infrastructure is much more stable than betting on market direction.

Fragmented market execution + unified settlement—the gap between traditional finance and crypto is what Prime is really targeting, and the remittance business is a sizable opportunity.
