$DRAM continues to attract strong market interest, with elevated trading activity highlighting growing attention across the memory sector.
I’ll be watching volume, price action, and momentum closely for signs of the next major move.
Morgan Stanley: China DRAM, NAND Capacity to Hit 50M Wafers by 2028, Reshaping Global SupplyAccording to Morgan Stanley, China's memory manufacturers—specifically Changxin and Yangtze Memory—are poised to fundamentally alter global semiconductor supply dynamics by 2028. The report forecasts Changxin's DRAM monthly wafer capacity expanding from 18 million units in 2025 to 50 million by 2028, potentially capturing 15% of global DRAM bit shipments and surpassing Micron as the third-largest DRAM supplier. While 2026-2027 AI demand and HBM production constraints may absorb China's new capacity, 2028 marks a critical inflection point. As Changxin scales production and Yangtze Memory's new factories ramp operations alongside existing global suppliers' capacity additions, the memory industry may face significant supply-demand pressures. Morgan Stanley predicts the market could swing from a 15-17% shortage in 2027 to potential oversupply if demand growth moderates, fundamentally reshaping the industry's profit structure and pricing discipline.
