After trading for so long, when I look back at the times I suffered the heaviest losses, the reason was always essentially the same:

Too much leverage, and positions that were too large.
Many times, I wasn't even wrong about the direction.
I was bullish, and it ultimately did rise.
I was bearish, and it ultimately did fall.
But a normal fluctuation along the way began to distort everything because my position was too large.
Unwilling to stop loss, I started holding onto the losing trade.
When I could no longer bear it, I kept adding to the position.
The position grew larger and larger, while my mindset deteriorated.
In the end, the market only had to sweep a little liquidity for me to give back all the money I had worked so hard to earn.
So I've become increasingly certain of one thing:
The truly difficult part of trading has never been making a lot of money once, but keeping the profits.
To compound consistently, you must accept the constraints of discipline.
No plan, no trade.
No clear stop loss, no trade.
The risk-reward ratio isn't suitable, no trade.
The position exceeds the plan, no trade.
When emotions take over, especially no trade.
It's better to miss an opportunity than to gamble with a heavy position.
A small position allows you to make mistakes.
A heavy position only allows you to be right once.
In the end, trading is no longer about who is bolder.
It's about who can survive longer, who can keep every profit they make, and then continue compounding.

Better to miss out than make an oversized bet—a profound lesson.
