What we see this weekend will tell us who has depth, who has a system, and who is still figuring it out.

This is my pre match predictor for August 29 to August 31 2026 covering the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1. All data is current through August 27. Lineups change, but form and structure do not lie.

How I am scoring this week

Recent form 35 percent. Last 5 competitive games including cups and qualifiers.

Squad availability 25 percent. Injuries, suspensions, international travel.

Home and away 20 percent. Some teams are a full goal better at home.

Tactical matchup 15 percent. Press vs buildup, transition, set pieces.

Schedule and motivation 5 percent. Europa teams have Thursday games.

Premier League

Manchester City vs Arsenal Sunday 16:30 UK

This is the first title test. City 2-0 with 7 goals for and 1 against. Haaland 4 goals. Arsenal 2-0 but have conceded in both and look exposed in transition.

City news. Rodri trained all week and is in the squad. De Bruyne starts. New left winger from Benfica has 1 goal 1 assist in 2 games.

Arsenal news. Rice is suspended after yellow accumulation from last season. That is massive. He is the press trigger and the shield. Saka is 50 50 after an England knock.

Tactical note. City will invert both fullbacks and overload the midfield. Without Rice, Arsenal lose their ability to win the ball high and will sit in a mid block. That plays right into City. Set pieces also favor City. 3 goals from corners in 2 games.

Prediction. City control possession and find a late winner. Lean Manchester City 2-1.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Saturday 17:30 UK

Liverpool 2-0 and look sharp in the new 4-3-3. Szoboszlai as an 8 is creating. Chelsea 1-1 and still searching for consistency up front.

Liverpool news. Alisson returns. Konate and the new center back look settled.

Chelsea news. Enzo is fit. Jackson starts but has missed 4 big chances. New right winger is direct.

Tactical note. Liverpool press high and fast. Chelsea want to build short. Win the midfield and you win the game. Liverpool’s press forces turnovers in dangerous areas.

Prediction. Goals both ends. Lean Liverpool 3-2.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Sunday 14:00 UK

United 1-1 and conceding 15 shots per game. Spurs 2-0 and look more organized under the new coach.

United news. New striker starts after scoring midweek. Mainoo out 3 weeks with ankle.

Spurs news. Maddison 2 assists. Son is playing central and linking well.

Tactical note. Spurs press in a 4-2-3-1 and force teams wide. United will sit deeper and counter. Without Mainoo, United lack progression through midfield.

Prediction. Spurs are more structured. Lean Tottenham 2-1.

Newcastle vs Aston Villa Saturday 15:00 UK

Both 1-1. Newcastle at home are worth an extra 0.6 xG. Villa played Thursday in Europa.

Prediction. Lean Newcastle 2-0.

Brighton vs Fulham Saturday 15:00 UK

Brighton’s press is working. 2.1 xG created per game. Fulham are solid but have 1 goal in 2 games.

Prediction. Lean Brighton 2-1.

Brentford vs West Ham Saturday 15:00 UK

Direct game. Set pieces decide it.

Prediction. 1-1 draw.

La Liga

Real Madrid vs Barcelona El Clasico Saturday 21:00 CET

Early but massive. Madrid 2-0 with 8 goals. Mbappe 3 goals playing central. Bellingham dictating tempo. Barca 1-1-1 and look disjointed in the final third.

Madrid news. Courtois back and starting. Defense is settled.

Barca news. Pedri is fit. Lewandowski is dropping too deep for service.

Tactical note. Madrid will play direct and attack the space behind Barca’s high line. Barca want to possess and wear teams down. Turnovers kill Barca here.

Prediction. Lean Real Madrid 3-1.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad Sunday 18:30 CET

Atleti 2-0 and grinding results. Griezmann playing deeper and creating. Sociedad 1-1-1 and missing a striker.

Prediction. Tight. Lean Atletico 1-0.

Girona vs Villarreal Sunday 16:15 CET

Girona’s press is back. 2.3 xG created per game. Villarreal have talent but start slow.

Bundesliga. Bayern vs Leverkusen is for early control. Winner goes top.

Ligue 1. PSG are going to run away unless someone stops them.
