#Gate事件合约积分榜 Theme selection advice for beginners—the core idea is to “choose short-term periods with good liquidity and relatively clear price direction, and start practicing with the smallest position size”:
1.Choose BTC first (the best mainstream liquidity): As the leading cryptocurrency, BTC has the best order-book depth and trading activity among the four assets, with smaller price spreads and easier execution, making it the most beginner-friendly. The price of an event contract reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that direction, and BTC’s pricing is also more efficient.
2.Choose 5-minute or 15-minute short periods: Short periods settle quickly and involve less time exposure. Even if your judgment is wrong, losses can be quickly locked within a small range, making it convenient for beginners to practice frequently and quickly build hands-on experience. It is not recommended to start with a 4-hour long period, as the holding time is longer and price-path uncertainty is greater.
3.Start with a “small position”: The minimum is 5 USDT per trade and 6 contracts, so it is recommended to start at the minimum level and treat it as a “practice cost” rather than a “bet.” Profit or loss is not the goal the first time; becoming familiar with the buying, selling, closing, and settlement processes is.
4.Pay attention to beginner activities associated with event contracts: Gate’s “Event Contract Benefits Week” has previously offered benefits such as full compensation for new users’ first orders (up to 5 USDT for the first 5000 users whose first orders incurred losses) and beginner check-in competitions, which can significantly reduce beginners’ trial-and-error costs. You can check the Activity Center in the app. If such an event is ongoing, registering and participating with a small position will be more beginner-friendly.
Two points to note: First, the settlement price is based on Chainlink data streams (such as BTC/USD), rather than spot prices or other sources, so pay attention to this before placing an order;
Second, event contracts are derivatives, and their prices fluctuate with market probabilities, so they inherently carry risks. Be sure to invest only after fully understanding the rules. This advice does not constitute any investment commitment.
