Bayern’s first match of the new season is against Stuttgart: Can the defending champions go all out, and can the visitors hold firm?
The Bundesliga season opener has directly scheduled Bayern Munich against Stuttgart, which feels like the first day of school when the teacher hands out the final exam in the very first class. As the defending champions, Bayern have a clear home advantage, and after scoring 122 goals in the league last season, their attacking firepower can be described as a “football money-printing machine.” The two sides also met in last season’s German Cup final, where Bayern beat Stuttgart 3-0, so their psychological advantage is naturally significant.
After strengthening their squad during the offseason, Bayern’s depth remains outrageous. Kane continues to lead the attack, Olise’s form is worth watching, while new signings Brown and Saybari have already made their presence felt. Bayern beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 to win the Super Cup, showing that they have adapted to the new season very quickly.
Stuttgart are certainly no easy opponent. They finished fourth last season and scored 71 goals, making them one of the more potent attacking teams in the Bundesliga. The problem is that in their past 16 meetings with Bayern, they have won only once, so the psychological pressure is indeed considerable.
I expect Stuttgart to sit deep and look for opportunities on the counterattack. If they can withstand Bayern for the first 30 minutes, the match could remain suspenseful; but as soon as Bayern score first, Stuttgart’s defense is likely to be gradually pulled apart.
Predicted final score: Bayern Munich 3-1 Stuttgart.
Bayern are more likely to win, and Stuttgart have a chance to score, but taking points away from the Allianz Arena will still be about as difficult as asking Kane not to shoot for 90 minutes.#五大联赛赛前预测官
