#Gate事件合约积分榜 How to Trade Event Contracts
Event contracts are a short-term trading product launched by Gate, centered on “price-direction prediction.” Simply put, you predict whether BTC or ETH will rise or fall over the next few minutes or hours and bet on the direction. No leverage, margin, or liquidation mechanism is required, and the maximum loss is limited to your principal.
I. Core Concepts and Explanations
Market
The smallest tradable unit. Each market corresponds to a specific price question and offers bullish/bearish shares
Bullish
Predict that the price will be higher than the target price when the period ends (the event occurs)
Bearish
Predict that the price will be lower than the target price when the period ends (the event does not occur)
Price
Each contract costs 0.01 ~ 0.99 USDT, reflecting the market’s real-time assessment of the probability of a rise or fall
Period
Supports short periods such as 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours, with automatic settlement at expiration
Settlement
Pricing is based on Chainlink’s BTC/USD data feed; each correct prediction pays out 1 USDT, while incorrect predictions expire worthless
II. Three Operating Scenarios
1. Buy to open: Select the asset and period → predict the direction → select bullish/bearish → enter the quantity and place the order. The minimum value per trade is ≥ 5 USDT, with a minimum of 6 contracts, and trades are conducted in USDT.
2. Close early: You can sell your position at any time before the period ends to take profit or cut losses without waiting for expiration.
3. Automatic settlement at expiration: If you do not close the position manually, it will be settled automatically. Each correct prediction pays out 1 USDT (with no settlement fee), while incorrect predictions expire worthless. Settlement is usually completed within 3–10 minutes.
Example: Buy 100 BTC bullish contracts at 0.40 USDT per contract. If the price rises when the period ends and the prediction is correct, 100 USDT will be credited upon settlement; if the price falls, the contracts expire worthless.
III. Where to Access It
Event contracts are currently available only on the App (update to the latest version required).
Two entry points:
Switch to “Event Contracts” at the top of the Futures page;
Home → Events → Event Markets → More.
When entering for the first time, follow the instructions to complete the Innovation Trading Disclaimer quiz and sign the User Agreement. Identity verification is required to participate.
A Reminder
Event contracts are essentially a probability game. The contract price represents the market’s pricing of the probability of a rise or fall, and most participants may find it difficult to achieve stable positive returns over the long term. Although the maximum loss is controllable, frequent short-term bets can still deplete your principal relatively quickly. It is recommended to use idle funds, control the amount invested in each trade, and avoid acting impulsively. For a more conservative approach, you can also use “close early” to lock in profits promptly when the direction is correct.
