Shinhan x Visa: Stablecoin Payments

Shinhan Financial Group and Visa are exploring stablecoin-based payment infrastructure in South Korea.
The partnership will test stablecoin issuance, remittances, redemption and card payment settlement, while also exploring AI-powered B2B and B2C payment models.
The important part is that this is still in the testing stage, not a full commercial rollout.
For me, the bigger signal is clear: traditional finance is increasingly exploring stablecoins as real payment infrastructure.

Posting updates while still in the testing phase—maybe they’re testing market sentiment. But DYOR is right: don’t mistake news for market movements; just keep doing what you need to do.

South Korea has always been pretty aggressive. This time, it is working with Visa to test stablecoin card issuance and remittances. If it succeeds, cross-border payment fees may well be driven down.

AI + B2B/B2C payment model? This feels like the real focus: stablecoins are just the vehicle, while the true potential lies in automated settlement.

Traditional finance has started seriously researching stablecoin payments, which is more important than any token price movement. Once they truly get the infrastructure up and running, those outside the crypto circle may only then realize it.

Stablecoins have truly caught the attention of traditional finance this time, with even South Korea’s banking giants teaming up with Visa for testing. Although it’s only a pilot, the direction is already very clear.
