$BTC Holders Prepare for Upcoming eCash (ECX) Hard Fork Distribution

A new Bitcoin hard fork initiative developed by LayerTwo Labs is set to begin issuing eCash (ECX) tokens to existing Bitcoin holders via a multi-phased distribution model. The initiative proceeds through testing phases before a planned mainnet release, where eligible BTC addresses will be assigned ECX tokens on a 1:1 ratio without affecting the underlying Bitcoin network balances. The sidechain project aims to introduce expanded contract functionality while maintaining Bitcoin’s core protocol parameters.

Interesting distribution, but the bigger question is what happens after the 1:1 allocation. ECX still needs liquidity, miner support, exchange integration, and real sidechain usage to prove the thesis.

So is it going to fork again? Claim the free coins first, then worry about the rest.

Although it’s a token issued on a sidechain, the 1:1 mapping sounds like a free lunch. However, there’s still a way to go from testnet to mainnet, so let’s first observe the contract’s security.
