Monad proposes wallet upgrade for passkeys, recovery and quantum security

Monad has proposed a wallet security upgrade that would let users replace lost or outdated cryptographic keys while keeping the same blockchain address and assets.
Monad has proposed separating permanent wallet addresses from the keys used to control them.
Users could replace lost or outdated credentials without moving assets to a new address.
The design could support social recovery, passkeys and post quantum authentication.
The proposal remains at an early stage and still requires a detailed technical specification.#BTCBreaks$81k #CandyDrop1BTCForOldUsers #TopFiveLeaguesPreMatchPredictor #StakeALIGNShare10MTokens #GateStockInsightsChallenge $MON

Separating the address and key is a pretty smart design. In the future, you won’t need to migrate when changing phones or losing your key, and combined with social recovery, it could help recover quite a few novice users.

Quantum security is a very forward-looking concept, but it is still far from practical deployment. What is truly exciting is combining passkeys with social recovery; using both together could significantly lower the barrier to entry for Web3 wallets. However, the proposal is still in its early stages, and the technical details have not yet been released, so let’s wait and see.

This is a good idea. Decoupling addresses from keys is the direction wallets should evolve in.
