Abstract generation in progress
Mars Finance reports that the Hyperliquid Policy Center stated on X that the world’s largest perpetual futures market has developed in offshore jurisdictions because U.S. regulators have yet to answer a basic question: Are these products futures or swaps? The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) began addressing this question in May by allowing the first perpetual contracts to be listed and traded as futures contracts on U.S. exchanges. Hyperliquid’s Policy Center has now applied to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the CFTC for confirmation that equity perpetual contracts can be listed as security futures. This confirmation would provide the regulatory clarity necessary for related products to return to onshore markets. Earlier reports indicated that the first Anthropic Pre-IPO market had launched on Hyperliquid, with 24-hour trading volume nearing $3 million.
