🟠 Bitcoin closes biggest weekly candle ever in notional value

Bitcoin surged to $78,000, closing what is reported to be its largest weekly candle in history by notional value a milestone coinciding with a broad crypto market rebound.

Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) returned to profitability on its Bitcoin holdings following the rally. Ten altcoins posted gains exceeding 50% during the rebound, signaling renewed risk appetite across the market.

What is meant by the largest notional value is that the dollar-denominated scale of the move set a historical record, not that the percentage gain was a record. With the price base at $78K, even a single green candle can match the scale of previous years. So stop going on about “it only rose 20%”—the absolute scale has long since surpassed what it was in 2021. High volatility will be the norm from here, so don’t max out your leverage.

This isn’t a rebound—it’s a vertical takeoff. Around ten altcoins are up 50%, and even dead coins are starting to come back to life, showing that funds in the market really aren’t lacking; all that’s missing is a pretext to pull everyone in. BTC is currently at 78k. Next, watch whether it can quickly move above the 80k mark; if it cannot hold above it, beware of a wick.

This week’s candlestick chart is truly outrageous—historic-level capital is flowing in, and it feels like the bull market isn’t over yet.

From being mocked as a “Nasdaq bagholder” to turning a profit, what is really worth digging into about Strategy is not how much money it has made, but how it has used its balance sheet to set an example for all listed companies: in an era of fiat currency depreciation, Bitcoin is a harder reserve asset than cash. An $8.2B reserve is no big deal; more companies will follow suit. This massive bullish weekly candle has completely broken the bear-market structure of the past two years, and the bull-market narrative has changed. In any case, I’m holding spot, not trading futures, and making money within my circle of competence.

Overnight, the comments section went from “the bull market is over” to “the bull market is here,” with sentiment changing faster than the candlestick chart. Remember, when everyone is bullish, stay even calmer, wait for a pullback, and buy in batches—don’t be the last one running in.

Where’s my short position? It got liquidated. No worries, I’ll go long instead and keep enjoying the ride.

Altcoins broadly surging 50% does show that risk appetite has returned, but be careful: this is exactly when it’s easiest to FOMO into shitcoins. After Bitcoin breaks a new high, it will most likely take a brief pause. How many days can altcoins continue to catch up? I don’t know; anyway, I won’t go all in.
