Transaction design matters more than it looks. On Dusk, inputs, outputs, signatures, and metadata are explicitly structured, making execution easier to inspect and validate. But greater structure also means more state to maintain. That’s the tradeoff: clarity vs. complexity.

I like this kind of explicit design; at least when something goes wrong, you can follow the logic to find it instead of blindly guessing in hidden traps.

Clarity and complexity are not actually opposites; a well-structured design is not necessarily complex. The concern is piling up redundant states just for the sake of clarity.

An overly fragmented transaction structure can be a headache, while one that’s too rigid can easily stifle scalability. Dusk at least has the guts to put the trade-offs on the table, which is pretty pragmatic.

The more I look at it, the more I feel that on-chain design is a tug-of-war with entropy: every bit of additional structure comes with an equal maintenance rent.
