Practical Lessons from Frequent Losses to Steady Profits
In the end, trading is a battle against yourself
After reviewing all my trade records, I found that 90% of my losses were not caused by technical issues, but by mindset problems. Greed, fear, wishful thinking, and impatience are the biggest enemies of short-term trading.
Greed made me miss opportunities to lock in profits: even when I was already profitable, I always wanted to pursue higher returns, only for the market to reverse and turn floating profits into losses; fear made me miss quality opportunities: when the trend was clear, I did not dare to open a position, and I hurried to close it out at the slightest fluctuation; wishful thinking made me stubbornly hold losing positions: even knowing the market had broken down, I still bet on a late-session reversal, ultimately wiping out my principal.
After trading for a long time, my biggest mindset takeaway is this: accept imperfection and give up fantasies of getting rich overnight. Event contracts can only earn the certain returns offered by market movements; they cannot capture every fluctuation. There is no need to pursue profits on every trade or envy short-term windfalls. Steady accumulation through small compound gains is far more reliable than dramatic ups and downs. The essence of trading is to overcome human weaknesses, use reason to defeat emotions, and use rules to restrain impulses.
