Pick one of three matches? My answer is simple: Arsenal! This time, the Gunners did not want to leave much suspense either
If Marseille, Arsenal, and Betis were placed in front of me and I could choose only one “prediction card,” I would pick without hesitation: Arsenal to beat Coventry.
This is not because Coventry have no dreams, but because the gap in squad depth and overall strength between the two teams is indeed quite clear. As the defending champions, Arsenal hosted the opening-round match at the Emirates, while their opponents were Coventry, who had just been promoted to the Premier League. In this kind of match, the biggest risk is not their ability, but whether the champions might suddenly “oversleep.”
But judging from the actual result, Arsenal were extremely solid, beating Coventry 3-0 to make a winning start to the new season. The official Premier League post-match report also confirmed that the Gunners completed a fairly comfortable victory.
In terms of the pre-match lineups, Arsenal had already set up a fairly complete attacking framework, with key players such as Saka, Havertz, and Ødegaard all included, while Coventry needed to rely on counterattacks from a defensive setup to find opportunities.
Based on the pre-match outlook, I would have predicted Arsenal to win 2-0 or 3-0.
The eventual 3-0 result also reflected the gap in strength between the teams.
By comparison, Marseille vs. Strasbourg contained more counterattacking and unpredictable factors, while Betis vs. Real Sociedad had more of a fifty-fifty feel.
So my ranking of the three matches is simple:
First choice: Arsenal to win.
Second choice: Marseille to win.
Third choice: Betis and Real Sociedad to cover the draw.
If I had to show one prediction slip with the highest confidence, I would still say:
Arsenal 3-0 Coventry.
After all, in the first match of the new season, the Gunners have already written the script for defending their title, and Coventry may have only one task—try not to let a typo appear on the very first page of the script.#五大联赛赛前预测官
