This is Arsenal’s home game at the Emirates, and they are coming into this match with a lot of confidence after beating Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield.

Arsenal have the stronger squad and more experience. Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz are the players I will be watching closely. I can see Saka or Havertz getting on the scoresheet.

Coventry also have some dangerous players, but Haji Wright is a big doubt for this match because of his injury. That makes things even harder for Coventry.

For me, Arsenal should start their title defence with a win. My prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Coventry.

From the Community Shield match, Arsenal’s pressing in the midfield and final third was indeed fierce, and even Manchester City struggled with it. Coventry will most likely sit deep and focus on counterattacks, but with Wright absent, the quality of their counters will take a major hit. I think Saka could win a penalty or provide an assist first, with Havertz poaching a goal to seal a 2-0 scoreline. As for who scores the first goal, I’m betting on Ødegaard—his curlers from set pieces are too dangerous.

As long as either Saka or Ødegaard performs normally, this match will be easier for Arsenal. Havertz really must not waste his chances—I was so anxious watching him miss an open goal last season. Overall, I still favor Arsenal, but hopefully they won't send their fans' hearts on a roller coaster.

I think Saka will be the first to break the deadlock—his inside runs can always tear open the defense. But if Coventry can withstand the first 20 minutes, it’s not impossible for them to snatch a goal later. It all depends on Arsenal’s patience and whether their full-backs can stretch the play. Anyway, 3-0 is too optimistic; 2-0 sounds about right.

Wright’s injury absence is a huge blow, leaving Coventry without a focal point up front, so they can only rely on sheer speed in counterattacks. Arsenal are also at full strength at home, so there really isn’t much suspense in this match. The only thing I’m concerned about is whether Arteta will rotate, since the schedule is congested—there’s no need to wear out the starters just to secure a big win.

Predicting 3-0 again—Gunners fans are so overconfident. I’m going with 2-1 instead: Coventry score to create some suspense, and Arsenal snatch a late winner. That’s more entertaining.
