Toyota, Sony, Nintendo, and SoftBank are all here: Stock picking in the Japanese market is entering a “happy dilemma” mode!

In the past, the biggest headache when investing in Japanese stocks may have been “how to buy”; now that Gate has listed around 300 Japanese stocks, the headache has suddenly become a different question—out of so many stocks, which ones should you buy?
It’s like only being able to eat instant noodles before, and then suddenly being told: “The menus of all the popular restaurants in Tokyo have been laid out on your table.” It’s certainly a happy situation, but it can easily trigger choice paralysis.
Among the first batch of Japanese stocks, Toyota, Sony, Nintendo, and SoftBank are all highly watched names in the market. They also represent different directions within Japan’s economy.
Toyota is a global manufacturing giant, with its core logic leaning more toward the auto industry and global operations; Sony has highly diversified businesses, with exposure to gaming, entertainment, and electronics; Nintendo’s biggest strength is its IP capabilities, with super IPs such as Mario and Pokémon giving it strong recognition in the gaming industry; SoftBank is more focused on technology investment and the AI theme, offering plenty of room for imagination, but its stock price is usually more volatile as well.
So the worst thing to say at this point is: “Everyone says it’s good, so I’ll buy it first and think about it later.”
Investing is not about choosing an idol—you can’t go all-in just because a name sounds familiar.
If my goal were to seek long-term fundamentals, I would pay more attention to whether the company can continue generating profits, whether its business has a moat, and whether its valuation has already priced in all the good news.
If I could choose only one, I would regard Toyota as the relatively stable option, while making Nintendo a key stock to watch for growth.
Toyota’s strengths lie in globalization and industrial scale, while Nintendo’s strengths are its IP and content ecosystem.
Of course, this does not mean that buying in will definitely make money. Exchange rates, Japanese stock valuations, the global economic cycle, and corporate earnings will all affect the final performance.
Gate provides a more convenient entry point, but what ultimately determines returns is still your own judgment.
So with the launch of Japanese stocks this time, I think the biggest highlight is not “you can buy 300 stocks,” but rather:
Before, there was no choice; now, there are too many choices.
And the hardest part of investing is often finding the one that truly suits you among a pile of options that all look good.#Gate首发上线日股交易
