Japanese stocks suddenly feel “within reach”: Nintendo and SoftBank steal the spotlight, but the real winners may be those who know how to pick stocks!

After Gate listed around 300 Japanese stocks, the Japanese market suddenly moved one step closer to ordinary investors. Popular companies such as Toyota, Sony, Nintendo, and SoftBank can now be followed directly. The biggest significance of this change is not simply “having another market to trade in,” but that investors now have even more asset-allocation options.
Especially for those who usually follow technology, consumer trends, and global markets, this batch of Japanese stocks is genuinely worth watching.
Nintendo is a classic IP-driven company. Super IPs such as Mario, Pokémon, and The Legend of Zelda mean it is not merely selling games, but building an entire content ecosystem. As long as players around the world are still willing to stay up all night for the next game, Nintendo will always have a story to tell.
Sony is more diversified, with businesses spanning games, film and television, music, and electronics. It is the kind of company that “knows a little about everything, and does quite a few of those businesses well.”
Toyota follows a different logic: it is a global manufacturing giant with an enormous automotive supply chain, making its investment case more focused on traditional manufacturing and global auto demand.
SoftBank is a bit more exciting. It is highly tied to technology, AI, and investment assets. When markets are doing well, it has considerable upside, but when sentiment turns cold, it can also give investors a taste of what “a roller coaster without needing to buy a ticket” feels like.
So if I could choose only one, I would not simply chase gains, but would make my choice based on my investment goals.
For a more conservative approach, I would research Toyota; for consumer exposure and IP, I would research Nintendo; for technology growth, SoftBank is worth watching; and for business diversification, Sony is worth a look.
But no matter whom you choose, remember that stocks are not blind boxes.
Gate solves the issue of trading convenience. What investors really need to figure out is “why to buy, at what price to buy, and how long they plan to hold.”
So my final answer is: if I could choose only one to start with, I would put Nintendo at the top of my watchlist—but I would not blindly chase it at high prices just because it is popular.
After all, investing in Japanese stocks is not about entering a Japanese idol audition.
The true champion is not necessarily the one best at stealing the spotlight, but the one most capable of standing the test of time.#Gate首发上线日股交易
