BTC’s Breakthrough Above $71k Is Only the First Hurdle: The Real Test Is Whether $70k Can Turn from a Ceiling into a Floor

In this Bitcoin rally, what I’m really focused on isn’t “how much BTC has risen,” but a more important question: Can $70k truly complete its role reversal?
On August 20, BTC broke back above $70k, then climbed to around $72k, with gains of more than 10% over the past two days. Market sentiment has clearly heated up, and even crypto-related stocks that had previously been dormant for some time have rallied in tandem.
From a trading perspective, breaking through a key resistance level does not mean the task is complete. A truly convincing breakout often needs to go through the process of “breakout—pullback—confirmation—further rise.”
So with BTC at this point, I’m actually not in a rush to declare that it’s “taking off.”
Why?
Because after a series of sharp gains, market sentiment can easily become overheated. Bespoke Investment pointed out that BTC is already in clearly overbought territory, with very strong short-term gains.
What does this mean? Simply put, the bulls have won big, but it’s also time for them to catch their breath.
From a fundamental and news perspective, there are indeed several positive factors in the market right now. The crypto policy signals recently released by the United States have been relatively positive, with expectations for progress on the CLARITY Act heating up; meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury’s increased buybacks of long-term bonds have also led the market to form a more optimistic view of liquidity conditions.
Therefore, the medium- to short-term trend has clearly improved.
My key observation range is: $70k.
If BTC pulls back to around $70k after rising and there remains strong buying demand, this level could shift from its previous role as resistance to become a new support zone. Once this transition is complete, the market will have reason to continue seeking room toward $73k, $75k, or even higher.
Conversely, if BTC quickly falls back below $70k after breaking higher, this breakout will need to be reassessed.
So my strategy is not to chase green candles, but to wait for the market to prove that BTC can hold above $70k before considering increasing my position.
In one sentence: $71k is only the first step in BTC reclaiming the initiative; the real test is whether it can turn $70k from a “ceiling” into a “floor.”
If successful, this rally will truly become interesting; if it fails, all we can say is—Bitcoin has once again given the market a free public lesson on “don’t chase the highs.”#BTC突破71000美元日内涨幅10.5%
