200k ZEC is neither a lot nor a little. A DCG subsidiary buying its own trust feels more like sending a message to the market—don’t get too carried away before the cold, hard cash actually materializes.

The wording “non-binding discussion” is very subtle, implying that things could change at any time, but at least it brings ZEC back into the mainstream spotlight from the controversy surrounding privacy coins. Coupled with the Ironwood upgrade fixing the Orchard vulnerability, the technical side also has a satisfactory explanation.

Grayscale has filed its fourth amendment to the ETF application, while a DCG subsidiary is considering buying $110 million worth of ZEC. This one-two punch will undoubtedly push short-term sentiment around ZEC to a fever pitch. However, note that such a non-binding indication of interest could be scaled back or abandoned at any time, and regulatory risks for privacy coins remain. Don’t just rush in to catch the falling knife on the bullish news.
