Bitcoin ETF Inflow Analysis: August Approaches $1 Billion

Following the August 18 trading session, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net inflow of $189.3 million. This was the second consecutive day of positive performance: over two days, the cumulative inflow reached $487 million, fully offsetting the outflows from the previous week.

Since the beginning of August, the total inflow into these instruments has amounted to approximately $951 million. Thus, less than $50 million remains before the $1 billion mark, and if the current pace continues, this milestone will be surpassed before the end of the week.

Inflow Structure

BlackRock (IBIT) and Fidelity (FBTC) funds remain the growth leaders. These two products account for the bulk of incoming flows, indicating sustained demand from institutional investors who prefer large and reliable issuers. Other ETFs are still showing more modest results, while some are even posting zero or negative figures.

Parallel Ethereum ETF Dynamics

Yesterday was also positive for spot Ethereum ETFs: they received a net inflow of $71.5 million. However, the absolute figures still remain significantly below those of Bitcoin funds, reflecting a more cautious attitude toward Ether under current macroeconomic conditions.

Price Reaction

At the time of publication, Bitcoin is trading at around $64,234, while Ethereum is trading at around $1,914. It is worth noting that ETF inflows do not always immediately translate into price growth, as purchases are made through the creation of new shares mechanism (creation), but over the medium term, a sustained positive flow of capital supports the market.

What Does This Mean for the Market?

The accumulated August inflow of nearly $1 billion is one of the highest monthly figures since the beginning of the year. It confirms that even amid uncertainty (fluctuations in macroeconomic data and a seasonal lull), major players continue to increase their exposure to Bitcoin through regulated instruments.

The question traders are facing now is whether this inflow can overcome pressure from sellers taking profits at levels of $65,000 and above. The upcoming sessions will show how strong the ETF flows' buying power is.

We will continue to monitor the daily reports and their correlation with prices. The next important level is a break above $65,000, which could attract additional interest from retail investors.
