The U.S. saying “Apple, don’t buy Chinese memory” sent MU and SNDK soaring as funds rushed in.

Latest news: The U.S. government has made clear that it does not want Apple to turn to Chinese memory suppliers. Previously, as AI data centers aggressively consumed memory capacity and prices continued to rise, Apple had been seeking more sources of supply, and Chinese companies such as ChangXin Memory Technologies had also entered the discussion.
In one sentence: AI has driven up memory prices, and Apple wants to find cheaper supplies in China, but the U.S. government does not want it to do so.
The market reaction was very direct: Micron was recently up nearly 6%, climbing back above $1,000; SNDK rose more than 9%, reaching around $1,790; Apple itself, in contrast, edged down.
Why? Because if Apple reduces its options for Chinese suppliers, the bargaining power of U.S. and other non-Chinese memory manufacturers will become even stronger. This is potentially positive for MU and SNDK, but for Apple it means procurement costs may remain high.
This also shows that the AI arms race is creating a very practical side effect: GPUs are not the only bottleneck. DRAM, NAND, HBM, and other types of “previously overlooked memory” have now also become strategic resources.
But don’t see today’s surge and chase it blindly. MU has already risen substantially this year, while SNDK has been even more volatile, falling 30%–40% in a single month before quickly recovering over just a few days.
In the short term, watch whether MU can hold $1,000; today’s high near $1,036 is the first resistance level. For SNDK, first watch for support around $1,700, with $1,825–$1,830 serving as clear resistance today.
This rally is not just an AI story, but the result of three forces—“AI demand + supply shortage + U.S. policy”—coming together. But the more widely recognized the strong logic, the more important it is not to confuse a good company with a good entry point.
AI is snapping up chips, and now even which suppliers Apple buys its memory from is becoming a policy issue.$MU $SNDK $AAPL #AI #MemoryChips
