In BTC Trading, How Do You Create a Weekly Trading Plan?
Many BTC traders wake up every morning and immediately open a market app to see how much the price has risen or fallen, then decide on the spot whether to go long or short that day.
The biggest problem with this approach is that you make decisions every day without having a complete trading framework. When the market rises, it’s easy to chase prices; when it falls, it’s easy to panic. Ultimately, you get pushed around by short-term volatility.
If you want to improve your trading discipline, you can try creating a weekly trading plan.
First, assess the market direction at the start of the week. Use the daily and weekly charts to see whether BTC is currently in an uptrend, downtrend, or consolidation phase. Focus on previous highs and lows, as well as key support and resistance zones. Don’t determine the overall direction based solely on a few short-term candlesticks.
Second, mark key price zones in advance. Identify the support levels, resistance levels, and potential breakout zones worth watching this week. When the price approaches these areas, look for signals that fit your trading plan instead of trading frequently in the middle of a range.
Third, define your trading strategy for the week. If the market is in a clear trend, focus on pullbacks and trend continuation. If the market continues to move sideways, reduce your trading frequency and avoid repeatedly chasing rallies or selling off. If the market direction is unclear, staying out of the market and waiting is also perfectly reasonable.
Fourth, plan your risk in advance. For every trade, determine the maximum loss you can tolerate, your stop-loss level, and your position size. Don’t increase leverage on the fly just because you’ve had a run of winning trades on a particular day, and don’t rush to increase your position size to make back losses after a losing streak.
Fifth, review your trades over the weekend. Record the number of trades, your profits and losses, execution mistakes, and emotional changes this week. Then identify which trades followed your plan and which were simply impulsive. Use these reviews to keep adjusting your strategy for the following week.
A good weekly trading plan isn’t about accurately predicting every price move over the next seven days. It’s about having a clear response for different market conditions.
When trading BTC, do you make decisions on the fly each day, or do you prepare a trading plan for the week in advance?
