Early Thursday at 2:00 a.m., the Fed’s shoe is about to drop, and at 2:30 there’s also a news briefing from Worsh waiting on the schedule. Right now, the market is betting that the outcome will be roughly a 30/70 split between rate hikes and holding steady, but the overall direction is clearly leaning tighter. By then, it’s expected that 1 to 3 officials will directly push back and cast dissenting votes in support of raising rates. As for Worsh, he’ll most likely keep firmly insisting on zero tolerance for inflation running hot—no loosening at all.
