$SKHYNIX After this Hynix earnings report came out, the market actually gave an interesting response.

The performance itself doesn’t look good—one could even say it’s very strong.

Against the backdrop of a surge in AI demand, Hynix’s Q2 revenue grew significantly, operating profit hit a historical high, and the core drivers were HBM high-bandwidth memory and demand from AI servers.

But here’s the problem.

Why, with such great performance, did the stock price fall instead?

Because capital markets trading is never about whether something is “good,” but whether it “exceeds expectations.”

In the last round of the AI storage rally, the market had already priced in very high expectations. Capital was betting that Hynix’s momentum could keep exploding in the future.

So when the earnings report was released—although profit hit a new high—if it didn’t bring stronger incremental upside expectations, it’s easy to see profit-taking. The market’s concern shifted from “is there demand?” to “how long can AI remain this hot?”

This is also the core logic behind why I chose to set up short positions at high levels earlier.

It’s not because I’m bearish on AI, and it’s not because I’m bearish on Hynix.

Instead, once the strongest logic in an industry has already been fully priced in by the market, the focus of short-term capital games shifts from upside expectations to the expectation gap.

A good company can be bought—but after a good company has already risen too much, the market’s timing still needs to be respected.

Trading always isn’t about how good the story is, but about who is still willing to take the risk and buy at an even higher level. $BTC $ETH #SEC主席乐观预期CLARITY法案通关
