This short position was able to be held and taken down this time—not because I chased the sell-off to get in, but because I waited for higher levels to be taken over again and again as the bids kept weakening. After the price had pushed up for a stretch, it clearly spiked and then rolled back. The detail I was watching was that the rebound lacked strength. I confirmed the plan around 5.542, and ultimately it returned to 4.591; the paper result shows +826.38%.
In the middle, it was actually quite grindy. A few needle-like pokes almost disrupted the rhythm. The order book looked like it might pull the market back up again, and when you start getting antsy, you also think about jumping ship early. But every rebound failed to truly hold, while sell pressure only kept getting heavier—the short thesis was gradually validated.
The most satisfying part of this trade isn’t that the numbers look so eye-catching, but that I wasn’t shaken out by a fake breakout. If you’ve spent enough time in the crypto space, you’ll know that at high levels nobody wants to take over; often, it’s worth paying more attention than to a single big bearish candle. The market has already given the answer—getting the timing right matters more than blindly chasing orders.
