The World Cup is over, but many people’s gambling addiction hasn’t ended yet.
The next most likely pitfall is to go buy those so-called “niche football matches.”
8 years ago, I had just graduated and started working not long after. It was also after the World Cup ended, when the gambling addiction simply wouldn’t stop. I started making疯狂 bets on all kinds of niche matches, and in the end I lost $200k and also racked up a pile of debt.
Back then, I really felt like the sky was falling. Later, it was the crypto market that helped me climb back up.
So I want to use my own experience to advise anyone who’s still gambling: never touch niche football matches.
The most common thing is these three traps:
All kinds of “big shots” give precise recommendations, pull you into a group, and get you to follow their trades
Following with contracts is basically the same thing. If what they say is really that accurate, wouldn’t it be easier for them to quietly make money on their own? Why would they beg you to follow them every day?
Because what they truly want to profit from probably isn’t the money from the matches at all—it’s your money.
The crappier the match, the easier it is to be controlled
Bribing referees, players throwing the game, odds lining up—these kinds of things are far more common in niche matches than you think.
You may think the World Cup can have fixed matches, but the “water” in niche matches is only deeper than the World Cup by ten times.
You think you’re researching data, lineups, and tactics, but in reality the game might already be “finished” before it even starts.
As long as you don’t leave the gambling table, in the end you will lose everything.
This is the simplest—and most brutal—truth.
The house doesn’t fear you winning; it fears you not playing.
If you win today, you’ll only end up betting bigger tomorrow; if you lose today, you’ll start thinking about coming back in the next match. As long as you’re still sitting at the gambling table, whatever you won before will ultimately be returned with interest.
Don’t think you can turn it around in the next round, and don’t believe you’ll be the exception.
The real comeback is to leave the gambling table.
