SK Hynix ADR falls below its issue price! Hits a new上市 low as South Korea’s storage leader faces its darkest moment?

AI chip market is going through a sharp correction.

Not long after listing on Nasdaq, SK Hynix (SK Hynix) ADR shares fell below the $149 issue price, briefly dropping to about $139 during the session, setting a new all-time listing low and raising market concerns about the AI industry chain.

For SK Hynix, long regarded as an AI storage leader, this drop not only affects the company’s valuation, but also tests market confidence in the AI industry chain again.

Why did SK Hynix suddenly plunge?

On the surface, it’s the ADR trading below the issue price.

But what truly impacts the market is the combined effect of multiple factors:

First:

The global AI chip sector has entered a correction phase overall.

Earlier, AI concept stocks surged sharply; after risk appetite in the market declined, capital began taking profits.

Second:

The market starts to worry about the pace of AI infrastructure investment.

As tech giants keep increasing capital expenditures, investors are focusing on:

Whether future spending can continue to translate into profits.

Third:

China’s storage industry is developing rapidly.

Recent news about Chinese storage manufacturers expanding capacity and making technological progress has intensified market concerns about future competition in the industry.

Has SK Hynix’s fundamentals really deteriorated?

So far, not really.

SK Hynix remains an important supplier in the global HBM (high-bandwidth memory) space and a key beneficiary of the AI server supply chain.

The company previously raised about $26.5 billion by listing in the U.S., mainly to expand capacity and meet AI storage demand.

Therefore, this round of share price adjustment mostly reflects:

A cooling of market sentiment.

A return to valuation.

Rather than the company’s core competitive strengths suddenly disappearing.

Can the AI storage track still be bullish?

In the short term:

Volatility may remain high.

After the AI sector’s rapid rally over the past year, capital has started to reassess valuation levels.

But in the long term:

AI servers.

HBM demand.

Data center construction.

Still remain important drivers for growth in the storage industry.

If AI computing demand continues to expand, high-performance storage will remain an indispensable part.

What should investors pay attention to?

Several key variables going forward:

1、Whether the company’s HBM shipments continue to grow.
2、Whether global AI server demand remains highly favorable.
3、Whether tech giants’ capital expenditures show a clear slowdown.
4、Whether the pace of development in China’s storage industry accelerates further.

These factors will determine whether SK Hynix’s stock price is only undergoing a phase adjustment or entering a longer-term valuation correction.

My view

When SK Hynix falls below its issue price, it shows the market is repricing the AI industry chain.

In the short term, sentiment release may still bring volatility.

But if AI infrastructure buildout and HBM demand don’t slow down noticeably, this looks more like valuation normalization rather than a fundamental change in industry logic.

What’s truly worth watching isn’t a single day’s stock price, but whether AI storage demand continues to grow over the next few quarters.
