Gate Event Contracts: A Smarter Way to Trade Short-Term Crypto Market Movements
The crypto trading landscape continues to evolve, and Gate has introduced an innovative product designed to make short-term market speculation simpler and more accessible. Event Contracts allow users to predict whether the price of Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH) will move Up or Down within a fixed time period, without using leverage or worrying about liquidation. To celebrate the launch, Gate has announced promotional campaigns with a combined 70,000 USDT reward pool, giving both new and existing users extra incentives to experience this new trading product.
Unlike traditional futures trading, Event Contracts focus purely on market direction. Traders simply select an event, predict the outcome, choose a contract price from the Order Book, enter the number of contracts, and place the order. If the prediction is correct when the event expires, each winning contract settles at 1 USDT. If the prediction is incorrect, the contract expires without value. This straightforward structure removes the complexity of margin calculations, funding fees, and liquidation risk, making the product suitable for traders of all experience levels.
At launch, Event Contracts support BTC and ETH, with four available prediction durations: 5 Minutes, 15 Minutes, 1 Hour, and 4 Hours. Gate has also indicated that additional cryptocurrencies and new event durations may be introduced in future updates, expanding trading opportunities even further.
One of the biggest advantages is the low entry requirement. Contract prices range from 0.01 USDT to 0.99 USDT, reflecting the market's estimated probability of each outcome. The minimum trade value is only 1.5 USDT, while the minimum order size is 6 contracts. Since there is no leverage involved, traders always know their maximum possible loss before opening a position, making risk management much easier.
Another key feature is the flexibility to exit positions before settlement. If market conditions change or profits become available before the event ends, users can sell their contracts through the Order Book instead of waiting for expiration. This allows traders to lock in gains or reduce potential losses while maintaining full control over their positions.
To mark the launch, Gate is running the Event Contracts Launch Carnival from 21 July to 31 July 2026, featuring a 50,000 USDT reward pool. Eligible users whose first Event Contract trade ends in a loss can receive compensation of up to 5 USDT through the First Order Loss Coverage campaign. In addition, a Profit Matching Bonus rewards qualified users based on their trading performance during the event.
A second campaign, running from 27 July to 31 July 2026, adds another 20,000 USDT reward pool exclusively for first-time Event Contract users. The first 4,000 eligible participants whose initial trade results in a loss can also receive compensation of up to 5 USDT, bringing the total promotional rewards across both campaigns to 70,000 USDT.
Getting started is simple. Update the Gate App to Version 8.28.5 or later, open the Futures section, switch to the Events tab, choose a BTC or ETH event, predict Up or Down, select a contract price, enter your quantity, and submit your order. Before trading, users must complete Identity Verification, sign the required agreements, and accept the Innovation Trading Disclaimer.
By combining fixed risk, simple mechanics, flexible exits, and attractive promotional rewards, Gate Event Contracts provide a fresh alternative to traditional leveraged trading. Whether you are a beginner looking for an easy way to understand market direction or an experienced trader seeking new short-term opportunities, Event Contracts represent an exciting addition to Gate's expanding trading ecosystem.
