‌Going against the trend means you should keep a light position. When you encounter a suitable trading opportunity, you can use an amount of money you’re okay with losing—money you wouldn’t feel bad about losing. Or you can use an amount that has at least an unrealized loss caused by big price swings, and it won’t affect your mood or the capital you use to trade. If you can’t bear it, then open an “ant position.”

The most important thing is that you must gain confidence during the process of succeeding. This is very important.

Don’t easily deny things, and don’t easily confirm things either. Try to do it, and try to extend the time you do it—so that success becomes your confidence, and becomes your instinct.

It’s rare to find someone in the crypto space talking about the importance of confidence. After trading full-time for three years, the deepest lesson I’ve learned is that losing money isn’t the scary part—the scary part is when your confidence collapses. People who can still smile and review after cutting losses will turn the tables sooner or later.

Well said—practicing in an ant pit is indeed a great way to hone your mindset. The positions that don’t hurt and don’t itch are actually easier to hold on to.

Going against the trend with a light position is the truth, but how do you define an “appropriate trading opportunity”? Many people think they’re opportunities when they’re actually just traps—suggest judging by combining it with the trend.

I started out wanting to go heavy and get rich big. After I lost so much that I couldn’t sleep, that’s when I truly understood how valuable a light position is. Confidence is built up one small win at a time.

Light positions can indeed help people stay calm, but don’t get too fixated on “no pain, no gain.” Before opening a trade, think through the logic— even if you lose, it’s still tuition; if you’re opening purely to test, you might as well stay out of the market and watch the charts instead. In short, the system that suits you is the best. No matter how good what others say sounds, you only know whether it’s poison after you’ve tried it yourself.
