BTC Practical Series 03|Part 1: A Complete Breakdown of Order Placement
After reading the candlestick chart, support and resistance, the next step is to fully understand exchange order placement.
90% of beginner losses come from the root cause: not using limit/market orders reasonably, setting stop-loss and take-profit chaotically, chasing pumps and getting stuck, or repeatedly cutting losses at low levels—over and over.
---
Market order
During sudden market surges or crashes, you can enter/exit immediately, so you won’t miss the move
But volatility is high, so slippage is likely, and fees are higher
Suitable for: sudden good or bad news, urgent liquidation, quick short-term push
Limit order
You set your ideal price; it only fills when the market falls to / rises to your target
Place buys at support to absorb lows and avoid chasing; place sells at resistance to take profit and sell at higher levels
The execution price is fully controllable, with lower fees
Suitable for: long-term positioning, buying in batches on pullbacks to support
🛡️ Take profit & stop loss
Stop loss: place an order in advance at the opposite price level to cap loss per trade
Take profit: anticipate the pressure level, set it in advance so profits are automatically realized, overcoming greed
Practical focus: set them simultaneously when opening the position—don’t temporarily adjust levels based on feelings
---
Beginner must-remember practical rules
① In a ranging market → limit orders, place buys/sells at support/resistance to get filled
② In a one-way extreme market → market orders; don’t obsess over the order price
③ Any open position must have a stop loss—no trade without a stop loss = running naked
④ Take-profit/stop-loss ratio is at least 1:2; if below this standard, absolutely don’t do it
