Senate Delays the CLARITY Act!

The crypto industry's massive push for regulatory certainty in the United States just hit a major political roadblock. Despite heavy lobbying and backing from Wall Street giants, the U.S. Senate is officially putting the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act on the back burner.

Bandwidth Issues: According to a new report from CoinDesk, the Senate's limited legislative bandwidth is currently being directed elsewhere. Senate Majority Leader John Thune is prioritizing floor time for other pressing bills, leaving the crypto measure entirely without a clear timetable.

The Democratic Roadblock: The delay persists despite the White House and President Trump reportedly reaching a historic agreement on the contentious ethics provisions that previously stalled the bill. Furthermore, objections from seven Democratic senators have left the exact timing of the bill's progression completely uncertain ahead of the August recess.

The Industry Push
The crypto industry is refusing to go down without a fight. Advocates have reportedly contacted Congress nearly 1 million times as part of a desperate push to get the CLARITY Act passed.
Despite the overwhelming pressure to formally divide digital-asset oversight between the SEC and the CFTC, the political reality of Washington gridlock has temporarily frozen the momentum. Currently, Polymarket bettors have priced the odds of the bill becoming law this year at roughly 42%.

A Polymarket probability of 42% suggests the market has already lost confidence, but the industry is still desperately lobbying—doing everything they can, even to contact Congress 1 million times.

In practice, the postponement of the bill has exposed the fundamental split between the two U.S. political parties over crypto regulation. Even if Trump and the Democrats reached partial agreement, the opposition from seven Democratic senators still leaves the timetable in limbo—meaning it appears that passage before the end of the year is indeed hanging by a thread.
