Here are some lesser-known facts about JTO (Jito) that many crypto users don't know:
1. JTO is not the staking token. Many people think holding JTO earns staking rewards, but it doesn't. JitoSOL is the liquid staking token, while JTO is the governance token used for voting on the protocol's future.
2. JTO holders control a real treasury. Voting isn't just symbolic—JTO holders can influence treasury spending, protocol fees, delegation strategies, and major upgrades through the DAO.
3. Jito powers much of Solana's MEV infrastructure. A large share of Solana validators use Jito's software to optimize transaction ordering and capture MEV, making Jito one of the network's core infrastructure providers.
4. The initial airdrop was only part of the community allocation. While 10% of the total supply was airdropped, an additional 24.3% was allocated to the DAO for future community-led initiatives.
5. The total supply is fixed at 1 billion JTO. However, the circulating supply changes over time because of vesting schedules and DAO-controlled distributions.
6. Investor and team tokens were locked. Large allocations for investors and core contributors were released gradually with vesting periods rather than becoming tradable immediately.
7. JTO benefits from protocol revenue. The Jito DAO treasury receives income from JitoSOL fees and a portion of Jito tip fees, giving governance over an ecosystem that generates ongoing revenue.
