Mars Finance news: On July 28, Citrini analyst Jukan said in a social media post that news about China making progress in DUV lithography technology is not particularly surprising, as the market had already formed some expectations. He pointed out that The Information’s related report only cited remarks made by a professor from a Chinese transportation university at an internal meeting in June, and did not disclose any more substantive information. Jukan believes that, driven by this news, the sell-off seen in semiconductor equipment stocks such as ASML was excessive.

Earlier reports, citing sources from The Information, said that a company supported by China’s state-owned capital has begun mass production of self-developed DUV (deep ultraviolet) lithography machine manufacturing equipment, marking a key breakthrough for China’s semiconductor industry in localization and import substitution. Sources said the company plans to produce about 5 domestically made DUV lithography machines in 2026, and expand to about 20 in 2027. Although there is still a gap compared with the 131 immersion DUV lithography systems delivered last year by Dutch lithography giant ASML, the market views domestic equipment entering the mass-production stage as an important breakthrough for China’s chip supply chain autonomy.
