CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said Bitcoin’s performance has been weak since the start of the year, with spot demand continuing to shrink; only futures speculation is driving the market. Total estimated demand for spot and futures is -127k BTC, and this demand level is not enough to restart an uptrend. Market stability is the result of sellers’ strength being exhausted, not a rebound in demand. If there is no panic selling accompanied by extremely low trading volume, the pullback may continue.

Spot demand can’t really pick up; relying on futures to push the price up is ultimately just illusory, and the pullback still isn’t over.

These numbers look pretty interesting. The demand shortfall of -127k coins isn’t a small figure—an exhausted supply side doesn’t mean buyers step in. There isn’t a panic sell-off, but there’s also no incremental inflow; it’s the old script of “if it stays sideways for long enough, it will drop.”
