A beginner’s blessing—my first Gate event contract trade
After Gate launched its event contract trading, little财神—serving as a “platform experience ambassador” for the community—also rushed to try it out right away. My first trade went incredibly smoothly. Overall, the design with no liquidation and no “cross-margin debt” makes it extremely friendly for beginners who have never touched contract trading. And I was lucky—I even made a small profit:

I. First position opening: zero-barrier friendliness at maximum
After entering the trading page corresponding to the Gate event contract product guide, the first thing I noticed was that the page emphasizes a short-cycle trading model focused on “price direction judgment.” The product only supports trading with USDT; there’s no complicated margin accounting or leverage multiplier setup—very beginner-friendly for anyone who has never used leveraged contracts before.

After choosing the BTC 1-hour cycle price event, I judged that the subsequent market would rise. In the order book, I selected a price of 0.4 USDT per contract, then entered the order quantity. The system automatically prompted that the minimum for a single buy is 6 contracts, with a minimum value of no less than 1.5 USDT. The price range per contract is 0.01–0.99 USDT. In the end, I bought 100 BTC bullish contracts, with a total投入 of 40 USDT. After I clicked submit order, the position opening was completed immediately—no extra steps the entire time, and it only took 10 seconds to open the position.

What made me feel most at ease was that the page clearly stated the product has no margin liquidation mechanism—no leverage design. My maximum loss is only the 40 USDT principal I put in when opening the position. There’s no situation like ordinary contracts where you get liquidated into owing the platform funds. You don’t need to worry about adding margin later at all. It’s super friendly for beginners.

II. Manually closing mid-way: flexibility beyond expectations
Many people, the first time they see event contracts, think it’s related to binary options. But I have to say this experience is way better than binary options. One of the biggest advantages is that you can close your position anytime halfway through. About 20 minutes after opening, bullish sentiment quickly heated up. The price of my bullish contracts rose to 0.72 USDT per contract. The page directly showed my current unrealized profit. I didn’t need to wait for the 1-hour event cycle to expire. I simply placed a sell order for all my holdings in the order book, and it was filled and completed within a few seconds—an early close.

After deducting a small amount of platform trading fees, my actual profit was close to 32 USDT—equivalent to earning 80% on the principal I投入. The whole take-profit process was completely self-controlled. Later, when I looked into the product rules, I found that if the market had gone against my judgment, I could also sell my position early anytime to stop loss and avoid further losses on the principal. I didn’t have to passively wait until the cycle ended and absorb the full loss. The pace of trading was fully in my hands.

III. Expiry settlement experience: transparent rules, fully automatic end-to-end
After that, I tried another small-position trade and held it through to the cycle expiry without manually closing. The system automatically completed the settlement and closing the entire way—no action needed from me. I held BTC bearish contracts. At the end of the cycle, the BTC settlement price was higher than the cycle start price when I opened. My judgment was wrong, but I didn’t expect the platform to launch a “first trade compensation” activity. My 10u loss was covered by the platform for 5u, and suddenly it didn’t hurt as much 😂

I specifically checked the detailed settlement rules on the page, and that’s when I understood the entire settlement process is very standardized: at the exact moment the contract cycle expires, all trading operations stop immediately—there can be no open/close orders remaining to be executed. The system uses Chainlink’s official fair price data as the basis for judgment. It takes the underlying asset price at the moment the event is triggered as the reference target price. The rules are written very clearly: settlement price ≥ target price is judged as “up,” and the bullish contracts win; settlement price < target price is judged as “down,” and the bearish contracts win. If there’s a special case where price data is abnormal, the system will also initiate an abnormality review mechanism to delay settlement and ensure fairness. All settlement results are traceable, with absolutely no behind-the-scenes manipulation.

IV. Gate event contract launch celebration event—participation guide
Finally, let me talk about how to participate in Gate’s special event for event contracts:
To celebrate the launch of event contracts, Gate specifically held a special celebration, which is divided into three parts:

Event 1: First trade compensation—share a $10,000 prize pool
Event details: During the event period, according to the order of trading time, the first 2,000 users whose first trades are at a loss can receive compensation. Payout is based on the actual loss amount, and each user can receive up to $5.

Event guide: This is the platform’s福利. It’s not a “guaranteed profit” activity, but at least you won’t lose money. It’s also a good learning opportunity for beginners. Everyone should make their first position smaller—preferably 5u—so you can get familiar with the order of operations. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a serving of pork leg rice. If you’re unlucky, you still won’t lose money.

Event 2: Profit doubled—split a $20,000 prize pool
Event details: During the event period, rewards are issued with the event contract net profit amount doubled. The maximum for a single person is $500. The total prize pool is $20,000. Rewards are distributed from highest to lowest based on net profit amount, and once the pool is exhausted, it stops.

Event guide: Not much to say here—the total prize pool is 2w, max per person is 500. Theoretically, around 50 people will split it all, so if you want to chase double returns, open your trade as early as possible.

Event 3: Trading sprint—split a $20,000 prize pool
Event details: During the event period, users with cumulative event contract trading volume (buy + sell) ≥ $1,000 can split the $20,000 prize pool based on the proportion of their total trading volume during the event. Single-user reward can be up to $1,000.

Event guide: If you have the strength, go for it. But don’t trade just to inflate volume—open your position only when you’re confident.

Friendly reminder: The event ends in a few days—everyone should抓紧时间
