SoftBank is reportedly close to acquiring Japan’s payment service provider SP.LINKS

Reportedly, SoftBank’s telecommunications subsidiary, SoftBank Corp., has obtained preferred bidder status for SP.LINKS, a Japanese payments service provider under Blackstone Group, bringing the company one step closer to completing the acquisition. Insiders say that Blackstone will sell its 80% stake in SP.LINKS, while the banking business of Sony Financial Group will sell the remaining 20% stake. After the transaction is completed, SP.LINKS will become a wholly owned subsidiary of SoftBank. (Jiemian)
