Mars Finance news: KB Financial Group announced the establishment of the “KB National Growth Unicorn Scale-up Fund,” with a size of 150 billion KRW (about $108 million). The fund will be fully funded by the group’s subsidiaries’ own capital, and will be managed by KB Securities’ PE Growth Investment Division. The fund will focus on investing in companies in areas including AI, semiconductors, secondary batteries, aerospace, mobility, robotics, and biology, aiming to cultivate unicorn companies in frontier strategic industries. The decision was finalized at the “4th Productive Finance Consultation Meeting” held on July 24. KB Financial also developed financial support measures aligned with the government’s “three major super projects,” covering support for semiconductor, power infrastructure investment, and physical AI companies and AI data centers. KB Financial plans to leverage the CIB Center as the core to identify local innovative SMEs, and to encourage companies to shift their evaluation culture from traditional financial statements and past performance to an assessment system based on technological strength and future growth potential.
